Ripon City Allotment Society was founded in the mid 1970s. The first roots emerged in the Kirkby Road Allotment site but by 1980 it had branched out and drew its membership from all the six council owned sites in the city.

In the 1980s the Society embarked on a programme of self-administration which continues to this day. Our current agreement with Ripon City Council extends to 2030.

In the Society’s early years the governing committee decided that membership should not be restricted to allotment tenants and since the 1980’s we have always had a small number of “associate members”.

Membership

The Society now has a membership of more than 200. Plot holders pay a membership fee with their rent. Others can become members which entitles them to attend the AGM, take part in any events we organise , benefit from the seeds schemes we run and use the members shop at Kirkby Road.

Want to rent a plot?

Currently there are waiting lists for plots on all six sites we administer. If you would like further information about any of the sites click on...... Allotment Sites.

Plots are let on an annual basis. The letting year starts on 1 April with the invoices for rent and membership issuing in January/ February. All new tenants are required to enter into a formal agreement with the Trustees......Tenancy Agreement

Charges vary depending on the size of the plot but the annual rent for a typical plot would be about £30 plus £5 membership but some smaller/larger ones are available.

If you would like a plot please click on...... Application form.
